UNRESOLVED ENTITIES
Not every structure becomes an Engine.
Unresolved Entities are unstable, fallen, incomplete, parasitic, restricted, or otherwise taxonomically inconvenient phenomena.
Some began as Engines and failed.
Some never had the dignity to become Engines.
Some gathered symbolic gravity without developing moral coherence.
Some are best understood as warnings with bodies.
They are included in the Codex because omission is not containment.
Common Forms
Unresolved Entities may include:
- failed proto-Engines
- fallen forms
- memorial parasites
- restricted phenomena
- unresolved shadows of known Engines
- entities that imitate Engine behavior without achieving Engine integrity
Field Note
A true Engine bears meaning.
An unresolved entity often wants meaning without the burden of bearing it.
This distinction matters.
It is also the reason some of these entries should not be pitied for too long.
